BATTLE SYSTEM
Introducing the universal mechanics of GUILTY GEAR -STRIVE-,
designed to let both newcomers and veterans easily experience
the series’ signature flashy, stylish action and exhilarating battles.
02BURST GAUGE
Available from the start of the match.
The Burst Gauge is used to activate three powerful universal mechanics.
Each can dramatically shift the flow of battle, enabling a wide range of strategies depending on how it is used.
03TENSION GAUGE
The Tension Gauge is a key resource used to activate two highly flexible universal mechanics at the core of the game.
It can be built up through various actions, but resets at the start of each round.
- Health Bar Displays your character’s remaining health.
- Burst Gauge Required to use Psych Burst, Counter Blitz, and Deflect Shield.
-
Tension Gauge
Required to perform special actions.
It increases through proactive actions such as moving forward and attacking. -
Round Icon
You lose one when you lose a round.
The player who reduces the opponent’s hearts to zero wins the match. -
Round Time
When the round time reaches zero, the round ends.
The player with more remaining health at that point wins the round. -
R.I.S.C. Level
A gauge that affects the amount of damage taken.
It increases as you block, and the higher the gauge, the more damage you take.
When the gauge is maxed out, all incoming attacks become counter hits.
BURST GAUGE ACTIONS
COUNTER BLITZ
When you land a counter hit, you can spend 50% of the Burst Gauge to unleash a follow-up attack.
During Counter Blitz, Psych Burst cannot be used, but it allows you to deal solid damage with ease.
If performed against an opponent near the corner, it will always result in a wall break.
Please note that it cannot be activated from counter hits caused by jabs such as P or K, nor from normal or special moves that cannot be canceled.
PSYCH BURST
The series' traditional ultimate defensive measure.
If you are hit by a fatal startups, you can spend 100% of the Burst Gauge to forcefully blow the opponent away and reset the situation.
This does not deal damage, but it can save you from a losing position—so don’t hesitate to use it when needed.
TENSION GAUGE ACTIONS
OVERDRIVES
Powerful moves that consume 50% of the Tension Gauge to activate.
Make them count and land them in style at the perfect moment.
ROMAN CANCEL
A highly flexible system carried over from previous entries in the series.
In this title, its effect changes depending on when it is activated.
- *While attacking: Creates a shockwave that slows down the opponent on hit.
- *While blocking: Pushes the opponent away with a shockwave.
It can be used in various situations, whether to strengthen your offense while attacking, or to fend off the opponent's pressure while blocking.
OTHER SYSTEMS
WALL BREAK
Continuously attacking the opponent at the edge of the stage will break the wall.
This transitions the fight to a new area and grants the powerful Positive Bonus.
